What is isla?
isla is a non-profit organisation founded as the event industry’s response to the climate crisis. Set-up by events professionals and industry leaders, isla is an action driven network. It brings together expertise from across the entire events sector, provides resources and training and has developed tools to support and deliver industry wide standardisation and best practice on sustainable practices.
As an isla member, we will focus on three core areas: zero waste, 100% renewable, and carbon emission reductions. Through facilitation, education and reporting we will share knowledge, upskill and track our progress in order to rapidly and meaningfully affect change across the whole business and across the industry.
Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge
We’re proud supporters and signatories of the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge.
This is a joint commitment across the events industry to achieve the targets laid out in the Paris Climate Accord. It’s a great initiative that is really helping us develop our roadmap to becoming net-zero.
Carbon Neutral
We are working with Carbon Neutral Britain to become a Carbon Neutral Business in 2023. Watch this space as we’ll be there very soon!
Electric Vehicles & Charging
We are well on the way to meeting our target of a fully electric fleet by 2026. In fact, we’re so confident that we’ve already started installing vehicle charging points at our Andover facility. In the meantime, our team are working hard to make sure that all our event logistics are planned in the most sustainable ways possible.
Sustainable Exhibition Stand System
Durable and reusable, the beMatrix system enable you to use your stand again & again. Moreover you can modify the layout for different venues or spaces. Made from lightweight aluminium, it costs less to transport and needs fewer people to build – a saving for you and the environment. And at the end of a long life there is no waste as the frames and components are 100% recyclable.
Sustainable Exhibition Stand Graphics
Our exhibition stand graphics are all designed to be used multiple times which is good for you and great for the environment. We’re also continually testing and trialling the latest development in eco-print media, fabrics, and inks to offer the best quality, most sustainable graphics to all our clients.
Sustainable Exhibition Stand Flooring
We are very choosy about our flooring and floor coverings. We only working with brands that can be re-used and ultimately recycled. When they come to the end of life, 95% our carpet and vinyl is granulated and reformed into new items. The remainder is used to produce biomass.
FSC Approved Timber
While we love the natural colour and texture of wood, it’s kept to the minimum by using the beMatrix aluminium build system. And when we do use timber, for special custom-built stand features, we make sure that it is all FSC Approved, it’s re-used and ultimately recycled.
Sustainable Waste Management
We are proud to say that NONE of our waste goes to landfill. All our paper, cardboard, packaging & aluminium is recycled. While 100% of our general waste is used as biomass to provide electricity for up to 20,000 Hampshire homes.
